Opening Keynote by Volker Grassmuck

GrassmuckWe are happy to announce that Volker Grassmuck will give the opening keynote “Ups and downs in the digital society”! He is a media sociologist, free-lance author and activist, has conducted research on the knowledge order of digital media, on copyright and the knowledge commons at Free University Berlin, Tokyo University, Humboldt University Berlin and University of São Paulo and is currently directing the project “Public Service Media 2.0″ at the Centre for Digital Cultures (CDC) of Leuphana University Lueneburg. He was project lead of the conference series Wizards-of-OS.org and of the copyright information portal iRights.info, co-founded mikro-berlin.orgprivatkopie.net and CompartilhamentoLegal.org and blogs at vgrass.de.

Although the summer school’s submission process has already been closed, we will provide the opportunity to attend the summer school as a guest. If you are interested in one of the limited places, please fill in the following form. Please note, that we won’t charge an attendance fee, but unfortunately the guest participants will have to finance themselves (journey to Dresden, accommodation, meals).

We are very happy to announce the draft program of our summer school. We succeeded in attracting some of the most interesting and qualified speakers in the domain of digitization for keynotes and workshops. From the overwhelming response and the many outstanding applications we received from young scientists all over the world, we selected the strongest in terms of thematical relevance and academic quality.
